Set the day down

Set the day down

There was a time when the day had edges. You walked home, and somewhere along the way it slipped from your shoulders and stayed behind on the road.

Now it follows us inside. It sits on the kitchen bench. It hums in our pockets. It never quite ends. It only fades.

So let us give it an ending.

As the light goes soft, change into something that feels kind against your skin.

Light something slow. Dusk incense, with its deep notes of vetiver, sandalwood and cananga flower. Or the Sanctuary candle, warm and resinous, its flame steady in the half-light.

And say it softly, out loud, so your body can hear: I am done for today.

Then let the water help.

Before you step beneath it, sweep a dry body brush across your skin, slowly, always toward the heart. Let the water fall over you and imagine it carrying the day away. And while your skin is still warm and damp, press Sacred Rose Body Oil into it, beginning at your feet and rising slowly, tending to each part of you as though it were precious.

Because it is.

When you are dressed again, the day will feel further off. Not gone, only set down. Somewhere it can wait for you until morning.
